The upper is not blocked, and the shoe fits the specific shape of your foot more comfortably.
Air can circulate more freely, which helps get rid of perspiration.
Depending on the technique used, it is often possible to re-sole these shoes, increasing their lifetime. And as long as the leather is good quality, buying hand-sewn shoes is an environmentally responsible form of consumption!
The particular position of the welt makes shoes more waterproof and hard-wearing.
By the way, this technique has a number of different names (another is Rovescia, storm welted) and has nothing to do with Norway!

Made in France is not a fad or flag waving, but a value at the heart of Paraboot's culture
For over a century, Paraboot been fighting to preserve their artisanal production plant and protect their know how.
They reject easier forms of producing their shoes such as cemented sole construction in favour of traditional quality and attention to detail.
77% of their raw materials are from France; they are either French materials or processed in France. With the exception of Cordovan Leather from America, the other leather merchants used are all in Europe. They all comply with the requirements of the various applicable European legislation in force.

Production of their shoes require quick, precise, confident movements, in addition to in depth know how and concentration. Not just anyone can do the work required for making Paraboot shoes.
Being lovers of beautiful fine quality products, they have remained loyal to the traditional hand-sewn techniques. This consists of stitching a leather band (welt), that attaches the upper shoe to the inner and outer sole.
The quality of leathers, meticulously selected at tanneries, plays a determining role in the comfort, lifespan and appearance of Paraboot shoes.
